How to play
- 1
Call a play
Run, pass, spike, kick or timeout. Each result is a real NFL play of that type from a similar spot.
- 2
Get it graded
Green, yellow, orange or red, by how much win chance the call gave up. Bad luck does not count against you.
- 3
Beat the real coach
Finish the drive, compare with what the real coach called, and share your grade line.
Today’s situation
Seattle Seahawks at Denver Broncos, 2026 Week 6. The Seahawks are down 3 with 0:57 left in the fourth quarter, ball on the own 46, 1 timeout left. Mike Macdonald had the call. A typical NFL play-caller wins from here 30% of the time, so today is rated Medium.

What this NFL play-calling game measures
Sunday arguments about play-calling usually end with “the play worked” or “the play failed.” This game grades the decision instead of the result. When you pick a quick out on second and 6 with 40 seconds left, the game has already played out every possible call from that exact spot, using real NFL plays and win probability, before it shows you what happened. If your call was the best one, it is green even if the pass falls incomplete.
The clock matters the way it does on Sundays. Incomplete passes and plays that end out of bounds stop the clock. Runs and catches in bounds keep it running, and then you choose how fast to get to the line: hurry up, huddle, bleed the clock, or burn a timeout. The two-minute warning stops the clock on its own. Spiking the ball saves time but costs a down. Field goal tries use real NFL make rates by distance.
At the end you get three numbers: the share of NFL play-callers you beat on the same snaps, how many win-probability points your calls gave up on average, and the same number for the real head coach on the real drive. Then you can read the real play-by-play to see what he called and how the game ended.
Who this game is for
It is for football fans who second-guess play-calling on game day, fantasy players who like numbers, and anyone who enjoyed daily games like Wordle and wants a football version that takes two minutes. It is not a franchise simulator or a fantasy football tool: you only call the offense for one drive, and there are no rosters or player ratings.

Daily Play Call FAQ
Is there a game like Two-Minute Drill where I call the plays in real NFL endings?
Yes. Daily Play Call is a free NFL play-calling game built the same way: every day you take over a real fourth-quarter drive with the real score, clock, down, distance and timeouts, call each play, and see how your calls compare with the real head coach and with NFL play-callers in the same spot. It also has a replay page for every close final drive of the current season.
Are these real NFL plays?
Yes. Each situation is a real drive from an NFL game between 2022 and 2026. When you call a play, the result is a real NFL play of the same type, run from a similar spot on the field late in a close game. The play library covers the 2022 to 2026 seasons and comes from nflverse play-by-play data and FTN charting.
How is my NFL play-calling score worked out?
Before you see the result, every call you could have made is simulated to the end of the drive hundreds of times. Your call is graded by how much win probability it gives up against the best call: green is within 1.5 points, yellow within 3.5, orange within 7, red more. The final score is the share of typical NFL play-callers you beat on the same snaps. A good call that does not work still counts as a good call.
When does the daily drive change?
A new drive starts at midnight US Eastern time. Everyone plays the same drive on the same day, and the same calls always produce the same result, so you can compare scores with friends.
Is the daily play-calling game hard?
It varies on purpose. Each drive is rated Easy, Medium or Hard from how often a typical NFL play-caller wins from that spot, and the daily schedule mixes them so you never get two Hard days in a row.
Is Daily Play Call free? Do I need an account?
It is free with no account and no ads. Your progress and streak are saved in your own browser.
Is there a college football version?
Not yet. College football final drives are the next mode we are building; NFL drives are live now.
